Carriage Room Museum Docent

The Museum, located within the working Folger Stable, highlights the history of the estate property, and the importance of the horse in Western American culture. Docents greet visitors, answer questions, point out areas of interest in the displays, and share any insights they have about the facility or the history of the area.

Museum hours are 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Folger School Group Docent

Docents assist with the San Mateo County Historical Association’s field trips to the Historic District in Wunderlich Park. Docents introduce students to the Carriage Room Museum and guide them in a series of hands-on activities including: peeling and pressing apples, leather stamping, building a "rock" wall, and cleaning tack and saddling a life-sized model horse.

Shifts are during the school year, one Wednesday or Friday per month 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (approximately three hours/month).

Nature Hikes with the Friends Docents

Our hiking program serves more than 900 K-4th grade students each year. Docents guide students on a 1-3 mile hike, leading them through the various ecosystems and exploring the local flora and fauna, talking about Ohlone culture and local history. For some trips docents lead hands-on activities with small groups of students to learn about local predators and prey, birds and nesting, and more. Shifts are on various days during Fall and Spring, from 9:20 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Click here to learn more.
