Hikes with the Friends

Monthly Hikes for Adults

Join us for monthly fun and friendly in-person hiking adventures on different trails in the parks designed especially for seniors! It's a perfect chance to stay active, meet new friends, and enjoy the great outdoors together. Hikes vary but are designed for active participants. 4-5 miles with maximum 1,000 ft. elevation gain on beautiful trails. Meet at 9:00 AM sharp and check sign up page carefully for meet up spot! Lace up your shoes, bring water, layers, and sun protection and come explore nature with fellow seniors leading the way! Hike hosted by the Friends of Huddart & Wunderlich Parks and guided by volunteer naturalist Dennis Ruby. To RSVP for a trip or join our email list send a note to fhwp2961@gmail.com.

  • June 17, 2026: Wunderlich Park. Meet at the Picnic Area at 9AM. Hike 5 miles to the Meadow, 700 elevation gain.

Schedule a Guided Hike

Docents can provide guided hikes in either park for groups of four or more upon request. Hikers can learn about the flora, fauna and/or history of the parks. Hikes are great for families, scout groups, friend groups and clubs.

If you are new to hiking and the parks, our guides can make hiking easy, fun and safe.

Huddart Habitat Hop Hike

This brochure narrates a family friendly nature hike of 3 miles. Families can hunt for banana slugs, learn about redwoods and enjoy nature together!

This brochure outlines the 0.7 mile easy trail with a focus on trees, shrubs and the sights and sounds of nature. A portion of the trail is paved and open to hikers only.

This is a 1.75 mile hike that focuses on the history and habitat of the park.  The brochure also explains recent park management efforts to restore native oak woodlands.
