Kym Teppo, Director of Programs

A native Coloradan, Kym grew up with a passion for outdoor spaces and connecting people with nature. Kym received her B.A. in Political Science and later became a lawyer, certified naturalist, and interpretive guide. Kym wears many hats working for a small non-profit from recruiting and training volunteers to managing social media and running special events. Kym oversees the Huddart Park Nature Hike program, the Carriage Room Museum at Wunderlich Park, and the Folger Stable Speaker Series. The best part of her job is working with the 40 volunteers who work tirelessly to protect and promote the natural and cultural resources of our special parks. When not at work, Kym enjoys backpacking and hiking with her husband, two kids and dog.

 

 

Joe Geist

Joe Geist, Finance Manager

Joe graduated from the University of Santa Clara with a B.S. in Marketing and Finance, and then received an M.A. in Finance from the University of Southern California. After serving two years as a reserve officer in the United States Army, he returned to California and became a commercial lending officer with Wells Fargo Bank. Later he helped start two independent banks: Saratoga National Bank and California Business Bank, and held the position of senior lending officer for both banks. Joe then left banking to work with nonprofit organizations. After serving on the board of the Farrington Historical Foundation, he became their Executive Director. He then served as the finance manager for Gamble Garden in Palo Alto. Joe joined the Friends of Huddart & Wunderlich Parks in 2005 and assumed the responsibilities for the administration of the organization. He has served as a Board Member, President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Currently as Finance Director he is responsible for maintaining the accounts of the organization, developing the annual budget, and managing the endowment account. Joe lives in Palo Alto with his wife Jackie. Together they enjoy travel and spending time with their 10 grand children.
